I love museums, I always have. But have museums loved me back?

Our cultural institutions by design have been complacent in a system that has for many years marginalized people of color, their histories and rightful place in cultural institutions. Changing the status quo isn’t easy but we must include those voices that have for so long been neglected.

I’m not a curator, a professor, nor consider myself an academic. I’m just a Latina with an underrepresented perspective about my experiences in the museum field, both as a worker and visitor. Enjoy!

With the lovely director of Smithsonian’s African Art museum, Johnnetta Cole, at the Annual African Art Gala.
